The Style

I purchased this dress from CUSP (the little sister of Neiman Marcus). Since it really is a showstopper without adding anything else, I kept it simple by pairing with my Stuart Weitzman NearlyNude block heels. For cooler weather, I pair with skin-tone-matching heels and a cropped navy or skin-tone-matching sweater. Currently on sale at Neiman Marcus!

The Mood

Do you ever find a piece of clothing that just exudes quality every time you put it on? That’s how I feel about Self-Portrait’s dresses. The dresses are intricately made; it’s obvious that painstaking detail went into every aspect of the design. And, they also tend to be heavy, a nod to the quality of the materials used. While I will not deny that Self Portrait’s dresses are expensive, I have found that the quality justifies the cost. If you have been thinking about whether to splurge on one of these dresses, I would say it is a dress that will last you a lifetime. Plus, I have spotted plenty of their dresses on sale at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Cusp, or Saks Fifth Avenue. One piece of advice — try a dress on in-person before you buy. The sizing seems to run small.
