My Mood
I am in the mood for something new and different. As I was scanning the post-holiday sales I realized that I basically already owned one of everything I was seeing. There really was not a single thing that was “new” or “different” for me. While I found a few “new” and”different” items at such exclusive retailers as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, I simply could not bring myself to spend $200 on a designer shirt. In my opinion, fashion changes too quickly to stock my wardrobe with pieces that are too expensive (or too inexpensive). Furthermore, I would really like to support more emerging designers and small businesses as opposed to the standard retailers. As such, I am on the search for new and emerging designers and their new and different designs. While I strongly believe that you can take any item, put your special twist on it and make it fit your unique style, I never want to get too comfortable in my look. So, the “great fashion search” of 2017 shall begin. If you have any suggestions for new and emerging designers, definitely let me know. In the meantime, I look forward to bringing new and different looks your way!
My Style
I have been in search for a few more casual winter dresses. I have plenty of work dresses and casual summer dresses, but only a few casual winter dresses. I do not wear jeans often; for me it is more comfortable for me to throw on a dress and a pair of boots. So, when I spotted this dress in the Boden catalogue, I knew it would be a great fit. I absolutely love the bright color and the looser fit makes it easy to wear a shirt underneath. The fabric is very soft and nice, but not very thick so wearing a slip underneath the dress is essential. In order to preserve the shape and (of course) minimize pilling I intend to have this dress dry cleaned; it’s important to me to preserve this dress as it has quickly become my favorite winter dress.
