Recently, I received a catalog in the mail for a company named Boden. Intrigued, I decided to check out the website – www.bodenusa.com and was happy to find the cutest clothes. Although I love to go shopping when I am in London (and I have a love for all British designers), I usually do not order items from the other side of the pond simply because I never know how anything will fit. However, I found the clothes to be so cute, I simply could not resist.
I decided to purchase a blue skirt and then, a few weeks later, picked up a shirt with a double decker bus pattern.
Raw Edge Skirt
This skirt has quickly become one of my go to pieces for the season since you can dress it up and down. The texture is nice, soft and the plaid puts me right on trend but is still subtle enough for me to wear for fashion seasons to come. Plus, I love pockets and it has the cutest pockets that lay perfectly.
The Shirt
I am equally in love with the shirt. I receive so many compliments on this blouse. Plus, the pattern is fun and the weight is perfect for any season. I would have no problem pairing this with a pencil skirt and cardigan for the office.
My Final Boden Thoughts?
Needless to say, I am now in love with this company. As budget-fashionistas, first thing to note is that the prices are right and the company regularly offers coupons or has a promotion going on. Plus, once you sign up for an account, the site will automatically save any coupons to your account and apply them to your order when you are ready to checkout. No need to remember coupon codes. Additionally, a few days after I purchased the skirt (which was already on sale) the price went down. Well, I emailed customer service requesting a price adjustment and, guess what, they agreed!
Also, the items ship from a facility in Pennsylvania, so shipping to DC is always fast. And, the fit is perfect for us petite girls since their clothing sizes tend to run a bit small. In my opinion, a Boden size 2 petite tends to fit more like a JCrew 00 or 0 petite.
Additionally, Boden’s customer service is truly wonderful. In August, I placed an order for the Charlotte Cape and the website indicated it was backordered but would ship late September. When I had not received the item by the first week of October I sent customer service an email. Boden informed me that the color I wanted was completely sold out and, as such, they would have to cancel my order. I was pretty bummed, but customer service offered to put me on a waiting list should a cape be returned in my size. They also informed me that the item was available in another color in my size, but since I wanted the item in red, I decided to pass on another color. However, to apologize for the inconvenience, Boden was kind enough to issue me a gift card, which I used to purchase my skirt.
Overall, I have had a really positive experience with Boden thus far. They offer both classic and on-trend pieces, which means I will be adding this retailer into my fashion rotation for a long time.
