My Mood
I finally finished decorating the Christmas tree in my apartment. I found the perfectly petite Christmas tree at Ace Hardware. I purchased a number of blue, silver and pink ornaments because I really wanted the tree to be an extension of the whimsy, elegance and glam that shines throughout my apartment. I topped my lovely tree off with the perfect start. After finishing the tree, I went about setting up the rest of my decorations — my nativity scene, my countdown to Christmas snowman, a fresh-smelling wreath, a decadent garland around the entryway and then red faux cranberries wrapped around twinkle lights. I listened to Christmas music as I decorated and after hanging the last wreath, I sat down on my couch with a cup of coffee to marvel at my work. It felt like Christmas, it smelled like Christmas and it sounded like Christmas.
My Style
I was really hesitant to embrace the crop-top trend. I had a major surgery during my last year of law school, which left me with some not-so-pretty scars on my tummy. As a result, I have always been pretty insecure about showing my tummy and I dread wearing bikinis. However, a friend reminded me that I did not need to care about what anyone else thought of me and I should never be embarrassed about any part of my body. So, with a little trepidation I purchased this crop top from River Island (similar style here). I then paired it with these great ponte joggers from Uniqlo (another trend I was hesitant to embrace and only $39). It might be a little hard to fathom that anyone would not embrace athleisure, however, living in DC, a yoga mat and Lululemon workout pants seem to be the weekend uniform around here for most of the women walking down the street. As such, I was very hesitant to try this trend until I was certain I could rock it. Fortunately, I believe this top and these joggers go perfectly together. And, to add an extra bit of edge to the look, I added a skin tone bra that has a slight shimmer to it. I completed the outfit with my lovely Christian Louboutin black wedges.
