Recently, a friend asked me if I would go shopping with her because she needed new clothes and she always thought I looked so put together. Always happy to help someone else sharpen their look, I was happy to embrace the challenge. However, after about the third store, I began to get a little annoyed. She repeatedly refused to try items on any clothes I pointed out because she did not like the way it “looked” on the hanger or she thought the color “did not go” with her skin tone.
The worst thing to do in a store is decide something will not look right on you before putting it on your body. Hangers do not do clothes justice. It is your body shape, confidence and special “je ne sais quoi” that will determine how an outfit looks on you. I used to say that I did not buy yellow clothing because it looked bad against my skin. Well, one day I stumbled upon this dress and needless to say, it is now one of my favorites. Every single time I wear it, people gape and gush. I’m glad I did not allow a little yellow keep me from putting this dress on!
