Visiting Einstein in the Fall

The Style

Some days I’m literally dressed in head-to-toe JCrew and this is one of those days, sans the shoes. I purchased this sweater because I am able to wear it “off the shoulder” so I can really show off my top. The skirt is classic vintage JCrew, as is the button down underneath. The tights and sunglasses are from Madewell (the baby sibling of JCrew). These amzing booties really complete my fall look and they are vintage Joan and David. I added the gray necklace for a bit of contrast — it came in one of my Popsugar Must Have Boxes (there will be a blog post soon about that). So, this look is part new, part already in my closet and, frankly, I think those are the best looks!

The Mood

I am kind of obsessed with the Einstein statue outside of the National Academy of Science. Frankly, I am shocked that I never noticed it before. I love science and math — I always have. I know that most women are not actually encouraged to go into the science or math fields, but, fortunately for me, I have some great parents and had some great teachers who actively encouraged me to pursue these fields. Although my dreams of being a doctor or an astrophysicist or an astronaut have long since subsided, every now and then I dream about what it would be like to spend my day steeped in my favorite subjects and learning new ways to solve old problems (and even new problems). I admire the women who get to work in these fields and I am so grateful to all of the women, especially the women of color, who paved the way for me to even have the option to choose a career in science or mathematics.
