My Mood
As many of you may have heard, Mary Tyler Moore passed away yesterday at the age of 80. When I saw the CNN alert indicating she had passed, I was truly sad. She was a true pioneer during an era where women needed to see a female pioneer taking the Midwest by storm. I imagine she was proud to see the hundreds of thousands of women march through cities all around the world, uniting for a common cause. It is on days like today that I remind myself I need to extend a thank you to all of the men and women who have come before me so that I might have the opportunity to choose the life I want to lead. I am so fortunate and blessed that others had the courage to stand up to the status quo and fight for a path forward. When we lose legends like Mary Tyler Moore, it also serves as a reminder that I too have a duty to those who come behind me; a duty to keep up the fight. I am also charged with ensuring that I leave this world in a better place as opposed to permitting old, white men to tell me what I can and cannot do. With that said, I extend a heartfelt thank you to all of those who have come before me. Thank you for passing me the baton, I will not let you down!
My Style
Hands down, I think this might be one of my favorite looks. I scored these pants circa 2010 from JCrew and even though they are unlined (which really annoys me about wool pants), they are super cute and stylish (similar style here). I also recently scored this awesome telephone top from Ted Baker. Currently on sale, this top is comfortable, stylish and classic. I receive so many compliments on it. And, to add a little extra height to my tiny legs, I wore my platform skin-colored Jimmy Choo heels.
P.S. If you have not had a chance to check out Ted Baker’s website or his new collection Colour by Numbers, you need to make that happen in your life.
