Who, What, Where is The Bouqs Company
American Express has started a pretty cool program by which they add offers to your card each month. As part of these offers, American Express promises to issue you a statement credit if you spend a certain amount of money with certain specified companies. Well, this month, I noticed that I had an offer for The Bouqs Company. Bouqs offers fresh, farm picked flowers at a flat fee with no delivery charge and they ship 10-15% free blooms with every delivery just in case some flowers are damaged in transit. The ordering process is incredibly straight forward and flowers are sent via overnight delivery Tuesday thru Friday. (Flowers can be delivered on Saturday, but that will incur a $10 delivery charge. There is no Sunday or Monday delivery.) Bouqs also provides a concierge service, which allows you to set up automatic delivery of flowers and save money while at it. The company is based in California and I have found the customer service to be exceptional — they answer emails quickly and stand behind their product 100%.
My Experience with Bouqs
So, late one Friday night, I sat down at my computer and began searching Bouqs’ website. After scanning through their site and reading more about the company, I opted to subscribe to their concierge service. I believe it is the ultimate in home stylishness to have fresh flowers year round (plus it adds additional color to the otherwise drab walls of apartment living), but I have found that the bouquets from the grocery store never really last and my local farmers market (my usual source for fresh flowers) is closed for the winter. As such, a delivery each month from Bouqs allows me to have fresh, quality flowers at a regular interval. And, once my local farmers market opens back up in the spring, I will decrease the frequency of my Bouqs flower delivery and then ramp it back up again for the fall.
I decided that I wanted my first bouquet to be Thoughtful, which the site describes as
[a] super awesome and rustic mixed bouquet of cut when you order flowers like alstroemeria, a succulent, and accents! Ships next day from our farms on the California coast to your recipient’s door.
Unfortunately, the Thoughtful bouquet was not offered as part of the concierge service so I decided to order the Thoughtful and arranged for my subscription to begin in February. There are three sized bouquets that you can order – the original, deluxe and the grand. I ordered the deluxe size bouquet on Friday night, received a shipping notification on Monday and the flowers were delivered on Tuesday afternoon. I did not order a vase with my flowers since I already have two tall vases and three short vases, so the flowers arrived in a box in bud form with two packets of flower food inside the box.
Bouqs Floral Arrangement on Day 1
I carefully unpacked the flowers, trimmed the stems and placed them in water. Below are images of the flowers from the first day:
Bouqs Floral Arrangement on Day 10
It took about 4 days before all of the buds opened completely and they have lasted well. Now, ten days after delivery, the flowers still look gorgeous. Take a look at the photos:
Bouqs Final Thoughts
My flowers do not look exactly like those on the Bouqs website — the Thoughtful is supposed to be made up of pink and white alstroemerias but mine are pink and red. Nonetheless, I am very pleased with the flowers I received. The flowers arrived on time and in great condition. I contacted customer service about the appearance of the Bouq and they were very responsive. Plus, with proper care, my arrangement has lasted well over a week and I easily expect it to last a full two weeks. I am very excited for my first subscription bouquet to arrive next month and I will keep you updated on my Bouqs experience.
