My mood: I have always found it to be really hard to go back to work the Monday after a holiday. I have to say my current job is a lot better than my last job though. I used to work at a law firm and I literally worked every single Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Memorial Day for five years straight. It was truly miserable. However, my new company really values personal time and vacations so I have had an incredibly relaxing holiday. I do not live near any family so I tend to really miss just the ordinary day-to-day back and forth banter that you experience when you live with or near your family. Hence, it can be a bit hard for me to go into work the Monday after a holiday – between the travel and the airports and waiting for your luggage (ugh) the whole process can leave me a bit stressed and homesick. Eventually, I manage to settle back into my “routine” by spending time with friends and just having adventures in my city. But, for those first few days, I’m always in a bit of a funk — missing my mom’s pancakes, my dad’s stoic silence, and, of course, playing Mario Kart with my younger brother.
My style: I so desperately hope J Crew brings this wool skirt back. It’s a classic A-line front-buttoned skirt (check out this front-button skirt) that I paired with a pale pink top I picked up from Uniqlo for a soft look. To add a little bit of spice, I paired the look with my bright fuschia suede heels from J Crew circa 2013 (see here for a season-appropriate update)!
